Project Summary
The South Beach Coastal Resilience Project will advance waterfront resilience along the Embarcadero between Harrison and Townsend Streets. This area faces seismic risk, includes some of the oldest wharves, and serves as a key transportation corridor, with major developments underway at Pier 30/32 and Pier 38/40. The project will support those developments while delivering an earthquake-stable seawall and wharves and enhancing the public promenade for recreation and mobility.

Are you passionate about climate resilience? Do you love the city’s waterfront and its surrounding neighborhoods? Are you involved with an organization that works on the San Francisco’s shoreline? Would you like to be a part of a team that develops the Interpretive Program for the city’s South Beach along the Embarcadero?
The Port of San Francisco’s Waterfront Resilience Program is establishing a Stakeholder Advisory Team (SAT) to support the development of the Interpretive Program for the South Beach Coastal Resilience Project. The Interpretive Program aims to capture the history and stories that represent this segment of the waterfront. The program will be driven by the feedback, recommendations, and points-of-view of local communities that represent the people of San Francisco – people like you!
We are seeking representatives from neighborhood associations and community-based organizations, historians, representatives of Native-American tribes, and environmentalists to apply to be part of a Stakeholder Advisory Team (SAT). Working team members will be compensated for their time, and they will have an opportunity to contribute to the project and help the planning team achieve important project milestones. The Stakeholder Advisory Team will meet four times over the duration of the project task, from September 2026 to April 2027.
