South Beach Coastal Resilience Project

The South Beach Coastal Resilience Project will replace the seawall and wharves along a half-mile stretch of The Embarcadero between Harrison and Townsend Streets.  The new structures will be earthquake-stable, raised to protect the waterfront from sea level rise, and adaptable to even more sea level rise in the future.  Replacing the seawall is expected to require reconstruction and regrading of the northbound lanes of The Embarcadero including replacement of utilities and upgrades to interior drainage systems.  Opportunities to enhance Embarcadero design, mobility, utility infrastructure, and the overall waterfront experience will be explored during concept development.

Location: South Beach, Embarcadero between Harrison and Townsend Streets
