Requirements
You must have:
- Current California DMV registration/USCG documentation
- Proof of marine insurance
Application fee must be paid annually to remain on a waitlist.
Need to Know
- You cannot live onboard the vessel. Houseboats, house cruisers and similar vessels are not allowed.
- You must have current registration documentation and marine insurance at all times.
- You must keep your contact information current with the Harbor office.

Apply for a Berth
- Fill out an application:
- Submit an application online or fill out the Berthing Waitlist Form and email to sbh-waitlist@sfport.com
- Pay registration fee. Applications are not reviewed until payment is received. Payment can be made in person at the Harbor, by phone or mailed in.
Waitlists
Waitlists are available to view at the Harbor office. When a berth becomes available, it will be offered to the person at the top of the waitlist.
If you accept a berth offer, you must:
- Request a vessel inspection. Harbor staff must check that your vessel is seaworthy and fits the assigned slip. Request an inspection by calling the Harbor office or emailing sbh-insurance@sfport.com.
- Show proof of marine insurance. Send information to sbh-insurance@sfport.com.
- Show proof of ownership. If you are not the sole owner of the vessel, you must provide:
- Names of all owners
- Agreement that shows each owner’s stake in the vessel
You may turn down a berth if offered one. If you turn down a berth more than three times, you will be dropped to the bottom of the waitlist.
Hold offers: Applicants must request the reactivation or extension of hold offers. Slip offers after the application's expired hold date will count towards the account.
