Pier 15 Seawall Earthquake Safety Project

The proposed Pier 15 Seawall Earthquake Safety Project seeks to improve earthquake safety in the seawall zone at this restored and highly active facility.  Constructed in 1931, Pier 15 was fully rehabilitated and strengthened in 2013 to house the Exploratorium Science and Design Museum, a major attraction on The Embarcadero.  The Port’s 2020 Embarcadero Seawall Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment noted earthquake induced movement of the seawall could damage the entry to the pier.

Location: Northeast Waterfront, Embarcadero near Green St.
