Pier 70 Area - Building 111
(Main Office/ Warehouse and Substation No. 3)
Built in 1917, Building 111 is a four-story unreinforced masonry building. Rectangular and finely-detailed, this building has a flat roof and extensive glazing. It measures 212’ long, 50’ wide and 65’ tall, and contains 46,272 square-feet.
This structure was built to be multifunctional and principally provided support for outfitting activities at Pier 68. Within its walls were offices, warehouse space, and power generation facilities. It is currently used for inactive storage by BAE Systems.
