Pier 70 Area - Building 109

Building 109 stands near the site’s northern edge, beside Slips 1, 2 and, 3. It was constructed of corrugated steel and steel trusses in 1912 with a 1936 eastern addition. Building 109 measures 483’-6” east-west, by 152’ north-south, and 37’ at the peak of the mold loft. It contains 82,099 square-feet of floor space.
Originally, Building 109 housed a mold loft and plate shop. It is currently used by BAE as a paint shop, and for tool and equipment storage.
