Born out of the California Gold Rush of 1849, the Port of San Francisco manages the 7.5 miles of San Francisco Bay shoreline stretching from Hyde Street Pier in the north to India Basin in the south. The Port's responsibilities include promoting maritime commerce, navigation, and fisheries; preserving the environment; and providing public recreation.

The Port hosts 60-80 cruise ship calls and 200,000 passengers annually. Itineraries include round trips cruises to Alaska and Mexico and many repositioning calls in the spring and fall, which either begin or end in San Francisco.

A world-renowned destination, San Francisco offers its visitors fabulous dining and shopping, panoramic views, charming neighborhoods, and a colorful history.
