Northeast Wharf Plaza

Northeast Whaft Locator

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 6:00 p.m: Second Public Workshop (.pdf)

As part of the Pier 27 Cruise Terminal, the Port will develop a new two-acre plaza adjacent to the Embarcadero Promenade known as the Northeast Wharf.  The construction of the new plaza would involve the removal of about 56,000 square feet of the Pier 27 shed and the Pier 27 Annex office building from the north edge of Pier 23 through the southern portion of Pier 27 to The Embarcadero/Lombard Street intersection.  The removal of these structures will open up public views of the Bay from the Northeast Plaza, as well as from adjacent areas.  New commercial uses are anticipated to be included as part of the Pier 27 Cruise Terminal project, which can be designed to help activate the Northeast Wharf and provide services to plaza visitors.

The Northeast Wharf Plaza is currently in the planning stage.  In July 2009, the Port conducted its first community workshop to solicit ideas from the public about possible uses and improvements for the plaza.  If you would like to be notified of future public meetings related to this project, please be sure to submit your email address below.
