Tim Felton started his career at the Port as a health and safety professional managing chemical exposure programs, hazardous materials handling, asbestos and lead abatement projects, as well as oil spill response. He has progressed through the ranks of the Industrial Hygienist series after gaining his Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) license in 2004. With a strong background in safety and project management, in 2016, he transitioned into the role of Superintendent of Harbor Maintenance and was responsible for pier repair and construction projects along the waterfront. He assumed the role of Deputy Director in April 2021.

Prior to coming to the Port, he worked as an Environmental Scientist conducting Superfund site investigation as well as a Health and Safety specialist for Apple Computer in Sacramento. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Toxicology from UC Davis.
